The roots of this Charity date back to 1868 with the marriage of Lord Brabazon, the Earl of Meath, to Lady Jane Maitland, and their decision to devote their “prodigious enthusiasm and energies to the consideration of social problems and the relief of human suffering”. In 1892 Lady Meath opened ‘Westbrook House’, the historic property which now forms the centre of our site in Godalming, as a home for girls and young women living with epilepsy. It has been developing ever since into this incredible establishment, helping each individual to manage their epilepsy and to work towards achieving personal goals as they move into the adult world.
