Born in Galicia (Spain), Tamara Lorenzo Gabeiras holds two Masters of Music from Guildhall School of Music (Repetiteur) and Manhattan School of Music (Piano) where she studied under the support of the Leverhulme Trust and the Spanish Ministry of Education respectively. She was a postgraduate scholarship holder from the Fundación Pedro Barrié de la Maza studying piano at the Cracow Academy of Music with Prof. Andrzej Pikul.
She is currently a Fellow in the Opera Department at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
She received the Grand Prix at the XXI Tournament of Foreign Pianists in memory of Prince Antoni Radziwill in Kalisz (Poland), 1st prize at the Young Performers Competition organized by Ibercaja in Guadalajara (Spain) and 2nd prize at the VII Piano Competition Veguellina de Órbigo in León (Spain).
She has performed both as accompanist and as soloist in Cuba, China, France, Morocco, Poland, Spain, the UK and the USA.
She is also very active as a volunteer and as a community musician collaborating with the Open Piano Competition 2012 as artistic director, the City of London Festival (Golden Jubilee Pianos, 2012), Westminster Arts (Resonate Project, 2013 and Creative Befrienders, 2015) and “Music for Thought” 2014 (Wigmore Hall).
Future engagements for 2016 include recitals at Oxford University, a recording of Galician piano and vocal music and a conducting master class with Berlin Sinfonietta and Grzegorz Nowak fully supported by Help Musicians UK.
