Sonia read Experimental Psychology at the University of Oxford, gained an MA in Counselling from Manchester University, and worked for five years in the voluntary sector before her desire to Stage Manage theatre was so strong that she made a career change into the performing arts.
Sonia has now been freelancing for two years and has a particular interest in small-scale, innovative theatre and performance. Sonia is a Technical Stage Manager for Liverpool-based companies, Travelled Companions, Collective Encounters and Dough Theatre Ltd, and particularly enjoys the challenge of working in unusual spaces and with immersive theatre. She has also enjoyed Stage Managing ‘El Camino’ (Alchemy Project, London), and touring Lone Twin’s ‘True West’, having the opportunity to work at Bristol’s IBT Festival 2015.
Sonia also works in Television and Film production, and recently worked with Partizan on "Go Beyond the Game", a short documentary film for UEFA. She also Produced the short horror tragicomedy ‘A Nightmare in Beige’ (Frightwig) and was 1st Assistant Director for ‘Canter For Cancer’, a promotional film for North West Cancer Research.
Sonia is excited to be touring with Pop-Up Opera as Company & Stage Manager in 2016.
