Mezzo soprano

Melanie Lodge studied at The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and has received awards from both Sophie’s Silver Lining Fund and the Britten-Pears foundation.

Her roles include Roro (La Rondine) Go Opera, creating Elf (Jack Frost) at St John’s Smith Square, creating Fasolt (For the Love of Undine), La Zelatrice (Suor Angelica), Kate (The Pirates of Penzance) & Guillia (The Gondoliers) Buxton G & S Opera Company, Siegrune cover (extracts of Die Walküre), Giannetta (The Elixir of Love), Phoebe (Yeoman of the Guard) St Albans Chamber Opera, Blumenmädchen 3rd of group 2 (Parsifal), Mercedes (Carmen), Rosina (The Barber of Seville), Madam Popova cover (The Bear), Despina (Così fan Tutte), Daphne (Thespis), Iolanthe cover (Iolanthe) Carl Rosa Opera West End Season, Pitti-Sing & Peep-Bo (The Mikado), Beggar Woman (Sweeney Todd), Isabella (L'Inganno Felice), Olga (The Merry Widow), Orange Seller (Carmen) Scottish Opera, Alice (Le Comte Ory), Fillipievna (Eugene Onegin) BCO, Marthe (Faust), Modestina (Il Viaggio a Riems) Wexford Festival Opera, Marcellina (Figaro) & 2nd Boy (The Magic Flute).

Melanie has also appeared in over fifteen productions in the chorus of English National Opera including their award winning production of Peter Grimes both at the Coliseum and the Royal Albert Hall.

Recent operatic work includes the cover of Amneris (Aida), Rosina (Barber of Seville) Heritage Opera & Serpina (La Serva Padrona) for Pop Up Opera.
