British born mezzo soprano Katie Slater gained a MMus with Distinction from Trinity Laban. She previously read English and French at the University of Nottingham, and studied Music at the Ecole Normale de Cortot in Paris. She is the recipient of the TCM Contemporary Music Prize, the Cordelia Moses Scholarship, and is a Christine Collins Young Artist. She continues her studies privately with Susan Roberts and Liz Rowe. Operatic engagements include Kate Pinkerton Madama Butterfly (Opera Holland Park Young Artists), Mrs Herring Albert Herring (MWO Young Artists), Dorabella Cosi Fan Tutte (HGO), Hansel Hansel and Gretel (Opera in Space), Kate Pirates of Penzance (Opera Holland Park), Olga Eugene Onegin (Blackheath Opera). Katie has given recitals in the Holywell Music Room, The Royal Naval Chapel, Christ Church Cathedral, Regent’s Hall, Charlton House and Boas House, and recently made her Royal Albert Hall debut. She has participated in master classes with Susan Bullock, Robert Tear, Donald Maxwell and Sir Thomas Allen. Passionate about contemporary music, Katie has premiered critically acclaimed new roles at the Arcola Theatre, Christ Church Cathedral and at the Grimeborn, Tete a Tete and Aldeburgh festivals. She is a member of the Alluna Ensemble, with whom she recently performed Pierrot Lunaire at both the Royal Irish Academy of Music, and Queen Mary's University.
