Eugene Dillon-Hooper

Eugene Dillon-Hooper graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2015, where he studied under David Lowe and Matthew Best. He has been awarded an entrance scholarship from the RNCM for a place on the Master of Music in Performance course from September 2016. He continues to study with Matthew Best in preparation for postgraduate study. During his undergraduate studies he was pleased to have performed in masterclasses with both Christopher Purves and Sir John Tomlinson. In 2015 he took part in a British Youth Opera summer workshop and attended the Arran Summer School, led by Peter Wilson, Patricia MacMahon and Alec Crowe. Recent operatic roles include Theseus in an RNCM production of Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Sarastro in Mozart’s The Magic Flute for Leeds Youth Opera. For RNCM Opera Scenes he has performed the roles of Kecal in Smetana’s The Bartered Bride, Lt. Ratcliffe in Britten’s Billy Budd; Superintendent Budd in Britten’s Albert Herring; and Sarastro in The Magic Flute. Eugene has also recently performed as a soloist with the Charpentier Ensemble and with the Bulava Chorus, a Ukrainian choir, at concerts in the UK and, notably, at the Patriarchal Cathedral, Kiev. As well as the upcoming role with Pop-up Opera as Capellio in Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Eugene has been accepted on Garsington Opera’s Alvarez Programme and will be performing with the Garsington Opera Chorus in their 2016 production of Rossini’s L’Italiana in Algeri.
