Adam Torrance

Tenor

Adam Torrance, born in Scotland, has an undergraduate and Master’s Degree from Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he studied with David Pollard and a PGDip (Opera) from the Flanders Operastudio.

He covered the role of Baron Lummer in Strauss’ Intermezzo for Buxton Opera and performed the role of 7te Diener in Capricciofor Grange Park Opera. He sang the title role in Charpentier’sActeon under Nicolas Achten and Tamino, Monostatos and Geharnischter Mann in Die Zauberflöte at Flanders opera studio. He performed Damon, Acis and Galatea, for Westminster Opera and Polidoro in La Finta Semplice and Belmonte for Opera@home, Sailor Dido and Aeneas for Silent Opera in the Coming Up festival and created the role of Fidencio in new operaDante at the Grimeborn festival. He has also performed in a staged version of The Messiah directed by Sarah Walker.

He is an accomplished song and oratorio singer and has worked in masterclasses with Roger Vignoles and Malcolm Martineau at the Oxford Lieder Festival. He has performed varied repertoire, including Henze’s Voices at the Barbican Hall recorded by the BBC and quartet performances of Brahms’ Zigeunerliederoverseen by Graham Johnson.
